Mother Octopus briareusThis page contains photos and descriptions of Colin Dunlop's mother O. briareus.
This is a female O. briareus. I got her on December 21, 2001. She is actually a Pentapus (only 5 legs!) She has been eating okay and seems healthy enough. I noticed some eggs laid against the back panel of the tank on the 28th. I will give rearing the eggs a serious attempt. I am a bit annoyed that this means that she will die soon. However, she did eat yesterday.
This is the best pic of her so far. She is still a bit shy. You may spot where one of the arms is growing back.
